Dear customers, neighbors, and friends,
I am writing this letter to inform you of recent changes and happenings at Mitchellville Water District.
At an emergency meeting on 8/26/25, I was elected the next chairman of the Mitchellville water district board of trustees. We have all been frustrated with the water district over the past 1-½+ years. I have been very vocal in my frustration and have taken a proactive approach in trying to help make things better. My goal in this endeavor is to restore your trust and faith, as well as mine, in the water district. One of the ways to help restore trust is by improving transparency through open communication, hence this letter. We are a rural community of relatives, friends, and neighbors. I hope and intend to guide the water district to a family-oriented approach where we take care of one another.
As most of you are aware, there are a lot of changes in process within the water district. One of those changes involves recent resignations of valuable personnel and board members. Each of them has been appreciated and will be missed. We wish them the best in their next chapters.
The board has been diligently at work and has already hired an entirely new team that is already hard at work to provide as smooth a transition as possible. There are a lot of wheels in motion to improve processes and work flows in daily operations. The outpouring of support and new commitments has been humbling. With that in mind, I have one request of everyone as we navigate this transitory period. Please extend your employees and your board a little grace, patience, and understanding. I promise that we will be doing everything possible to make sound decisions that will improve our water district to minimize disruptions in supply and to provide the best price possible going forward!
We’re all in this together!
Best regards,
Jeremy Palmer
